What If We Were Willing?

By Pastor Ronald Bernier, Master Buider Ministries, Fall River, MA

I am sure we have all though of the what if’s. What if Adam did not eat that piece of fruit? What if the people did listen to Noah’s warnings? What if the children of Israel believed God when He was to send them into the Promised Land the first time? What if the leaders of Israel did listen to the prophets and gather their children under the protection of the Lord? We know what happened because they did not.

But what about us? When Jesus lamented over Jerusalem, He said:

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were unwilling! See! Your house is left to you desolate; for I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’” Mathew 23:37-39

To respond to the Lord’s cry requires leaders and people to be willing to gather to the Lord. No, not to our own kind and in our own way. But graciously bending in humility and receiving the message of the Lord and His messengers. Can you imagine what a blessing our city could experience if we all truly sought to honor the Lord and follow His ways. Not just individually, but corporately as well. Unity with diversity. True faith in action. We already know the results of not doing this.
