Crowned!

Updated: Jun 11, 2018

While walking the mall with my friend Cyndi, something sparkly caught my eye in the jewelry case of Kay Jewelers. When she decided to take a detour inside to check and see if they had a piece she wanted to buy, I took a minute and looked around. I came across a beautiful rose gold wedding ring set. It was an elegant marquise cut. The ring was shaped to look like a crown. I really liked it.

I thought about the idea of having a crown. It’s almost every little girl’s dream to be a princess.

According to the scriptures a we will one day have a crown. “Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.” 2Tim 4:8 I can scarcely imagine it. It won’t be a physical crown like a princess would wear, but rather, it will be an even more beautiful, everlasting spiritual crown of Christ’s righteousness.

I am certainly not the one who is worthy of a crown of any sort. There is one King, one humble, righteous servant King…King Jesus. I think of how He earned that crown for me by wearing another one; the crown He wore at Calvary.

“And twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on his head and put a reed in his right hand. And kneeling before him, they mocked him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” Matt 27:29 I imagine the thorns piercing His brow as His broken body, face unrecognizable, is nailed to the cross. It makes me shudder to think of the King of Kings subject to such torture and ridicule from man, whom He created! And yet the tender heart of God says, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.” Luke 23:34 I thank God for the gentle, forgiving Spirit of Jesus Christ, who forgave those people although they never thought to ask.

I can get upset at those people who mistreated our Lord, but really, I am no better. When I was at my very worst, He forgave me too. Believe me, there was much to forgive! Do you see yourself as one who made fun of Jesus? Maybe you didn’t make fun, but had no regard at all for Him… We all come from someplace. If there was the hope of forgiveness for them, and me, there is hope for you.

( If you don’t know Him yet please read my blog titled “Plan of Salvation.” )

This brings us to yet another crown… Paul wrote, “Therefore, my brothers, whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm thus in the Lord, my beloved.” Phil 4:1 Yes! How sweet it is to enjoy the fellowship of the saints! There is really nothing like it. You can meet, and in a very short amount of time its like you’ve known each other forever! As believers, old and new, we share a common bond, the love of our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ and a relationship with Almighty Father God through Him! Wow! Life isn’t just life anymore. Everyday is an opportunity to magnify Him and support each other. The blood of Christ runs way deeper than anything. I am so thankful for that! I feel privileged to be in the family of God!

My prayer for this blog is that some who do not know Jesus, will desire to know Him and join me in His family.

I don't know if I will ever buy that ring I saw in the case. But it sure reminds me of Jesus, His many crowns and the spiritual ones that He will give. Until next time, God is on the move! God bless!
