Absolute Truth

Updated: Jan 20, 2019

Have you heard there is a new way of doing math? This method places more value on how you get to an answer than the answer itself. Nothing like the absolute numeric answers of yesterday. The answer was either right or wrong. As if math wasn’t bad enough! Now you really guess, and your guess may be right...or not.

Did you know there are now (supposedly) 15 different types of gender? Boys are no longer boys if they don’t feel like a boy. If they feel like a girl, but look like a boy, a person can still get in trouble for addressing them as a “he.” But how is anyone to know what a person is feeling inside when the outside sends a totally different message?

Living with no absolutes can be very frustrating, especially when there are absolutes and people are just not recogognizing them anymore.

Absolutes are being replaced with opinions and those opinions become the absolutes. S-c-a-r-y! It is like standing on sinking sand, never knowing when the bottom is to give out. This is the uncertainty of the world we are (temporarily) living in. Praise God, that He is not like that!

God’s love and faithfulness are an absolute truth! His word is not a “maybe” or a “we’ll see.” No. His word shares promises which we can stand on because, unlike our world, God and His word do not change! "I the LORD do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed.” Mal 3:6

If God operated on a knee jerk feeling, wow, would we be in trouble! But God made a covenant promise to Abraham. "I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.” Gen 12:2 So when the Israelites were being beaten down in Egypt, God made sure to protect them. Furthermore, I have heard the groaning of the Israelites, whom the Egyptians are enslaving, and I have remembered My covenant.” Ex. 6:6

Yes, God made a promise and God kept it! "The Redeemer will come to Zion, to those in Jacob who repent of their sins," declares the LORD. Is. 59:20

Jesus is the promised redeemer spoken of in the Old Testament! God kept His promise in the Old Testament and He keeps His promise, and expands the reach of it, in the New Testament through His Son Jesus Christ!

Jesus is willing to save all who call on Him for the forgiveness of their sins. "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Rom 10:13 That, my friend is a promise! It doesn’t change because Jesus doesn’t change. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Heb. 13:8 So although we live in an ever-changing world, we can stand firmly on the Rock, our Savior, God’s Son, Jesus Christ.

“God is my strong fortress; And He sets the blameless in His Way. He makes my feet like hinds’ feet, and sets me on my high places. He trains my hands for battle, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze. You have also given me the shield of Your salvation, And Your help makes me great. “You enlarge my steps under me, and my feet have not slipped.” 2Sam 22:33-37

There isn’t much we can count on these days in this ever-changing world. But we need not fear. Our salvation is sure. Our adoption complete. It is an absolute fact that we, who trust in Jesus Christ, belong to God. “The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father." Rom 8:15

So in Christ we receive the Holy Spirit. Now God has given us more than a spoken promise! We have an indwelling promise! “He set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. 2Cor. 1:22 It doesn’t get better than that my friends! So when the world leaves you wondering, stop and ponder the never changing promises of God in Christ!
